The Blue Mosque is an historical mosque in Istanbul dating back to the Ottoman Empire (1453 -1923). The mosque, known for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior, was built from 1609 to 1616 in the rule of Ahmed I. Similar to other mosques, it also comprises a tomb of the founder, an educational institution, and a hospice. While still used as a mosque, it has also become a popular destination for all Insight Vacations tours going to Istanbul.
